So i am aware that i havent posted anything in a while, and it seems in my absence, or rather the december vacation, something went down i wasn’t quite aware of…
I consider myself quite up to date with fashion, always keeping an eye peeled for the latest trends in fashion and styling on streetstyle blogs from across the globe and have become aware that the sporty street look is becoming cool again with people walking around with their New balance trainers, Jordans, lacoste and the likes but one thing that not only caught me by surprise but disturbed me in mass was the sudden appearance of a bag i noted on a girl last year on campus.
now the problem with the university i am at is that trends there are over-exploited and readily available to students and as a result one is likely to notice an insurgence of particular trends, the white chuck taylor converse being an example but not only do i not understand the tsunami of longchamps bags, but i dont see the aesthetic appeal that would normally attract on’s eye to a particular item.
thanks to the likes of Oliva Palermo, tote bags are ‘the new it bag’, and understandably so, however this longchamps bag tsunami thats swept across my university is disturbing. I understand that perhaps it is an expensive bag, something students at my university have a penchant for, however it reminds me of a toiletry bag because of the primary material used on the bag, a sort of dry-mac sheen seath. I said this to my friends who agreed and laughed at my statement, laughing only because they knew it was true. furthermore this bag reminds me of the free (toiletry) bag one is given if they buy perfume from a store, a sort of free complimentary bag to keep cosmetics in.
perhaps i have been living under a fashion rock, but i would rather prefer to be than pay ridiculous amounts of money for a bag which reminds me of the complimentary toiletry bag that accompanied my gucci perfume during christmas sales.
